Notice of new appointment

Rev John Clifford as Executive Secretary

The International Council of Unitarians and Unitarian Universalists (ICUU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev John Clifford as its new Executive Secretary.  The appointment is a half-time position and became effective 1 September 2005. He will work primarily from an office in his home in Caerphilly, Wales.

John comes to this post with over 30 years' experience of the international dimension of Unitarianism, having been trained for the ministry in the USA (at the previous Universalist theological school in Boston, Massachusetts and at an interdenominational school in Claremont, California) and serving Unitarian and Unitarian Universalist congregations for 35 years.

During this time he also had two administrative appointments, one with the International Association for Religious Freedom and one at British Unitarian headquarters where he was Deputy General Secretary for 12 years.

Part of his responsibilities have involved preparation of conferences, serving trustees, publicity, computerisation of office routines, and acting as tour liaison for several international bus tours (Japan, Scandinavia, Hungary, and Romania). We expect John's experiences in these areas to be valuable background for his work with ICUU.

ICUU's biennial Council takes place near Barcelona, Spain, from 4 to 10 November this year and is open on this occasion to everyone interested in the international dimension of Unitarianism/ Universalism.  Details can be had from the ICUU website www.icuu.net or by contacting John at clifford@universalist.ednet.co.uk. We wish John well and every success in this post and look forward to a long and fruitful association with him.
